The Half Bees

The Half Bees are a rock and roll band who formed in Bellingham, WA in late 2009.
“We released our first EP, “Look on The Bright Side” in May 2010. We would love to come through your city and play shows with your favorite bands. Its all we want to do.”
Q: Who is in the band and what role does each person have?
A:The Half Bees are comprised of Nathan Stephens, he of most vocal and rhythm guitar duties, Mike Lamb, being the lead guitarist, Sean Dalgarn, percussionist and beat keeper, and Tony Massarelli, bass and hair.
Q: What brought the band together?
A: Persistence, determination and a complete lack of irony. We began playing shows in October of 2009. Since then we’ve played several better shows.
Q: What genre of music do you classify your band as?
A: (Genuine answer) The most flattering way we’ve heard ourselves described would be blues/grunge punk, though its impossible to know, really. (Snarky answer) That’s your job, motherfucker!
Q: What inspires your music?
A: Oh, all manner of things. Mostly we just try to make the songs feel right, and the rest comes naturally.
Q: Who or what influences your band’s sound?
A: Its a mixed bag depending on which member you ask, but we can all agree on heavy drums, a decent melody, and some snarl to the guitar. And we try to have lyrics that sound kind of simple and memorable.
Q: Where have you toured?
A: Being a relatively new band, our shows have been limited to Bellingham’s many fine venues and a one off jaunt to lovely Everett, Washington.
Q: How many albums have you released?
A: Our first EP, “Look On The Bright Side,” is done and became available for free download today, believe it or not. It features five of our compositions. We have a full length release planned for September or so. No title for that one yet.
Q: What are the highs and lows in your band’s history?
A: Quite honestly, the highs outweigh any lows so far in such a way that to list any “lows” would be a bit ridiculous. It was our personal “lows” that got most of us wanting to jam out anyway, probably, but we have had pretty much nothing but positive experiences since we started the whole thing up. People keep showing up, and each show is better than the last.
Q: You’re on a deserted island and forced to listen to one album for eternity. What album would you pick?
A: Who could possibly answer this question and not regret their answer at some point? Alright, Abbey Road. “Boy, you’ve got to carry that weight for a long time” is a pretty solid lyric.
Q: Do you have a Web site? Myspace? Facebook? Etc? If so, what are they?
A: We have a Facebook, and our EP is available for download on Bandcamp. We’ve got people much more tech savvy than ourselves handling all future online endeavors.

Q: Any last words, shout outs?
A: Just a big thanks to all of our friends and family who have supported us so far, we love you all! And also, don’t forget to look on the bright side!
